Sunita Khedeker Art Exhibition
Barbers is delighted to welcome back the wonderful Sunita Khedeker who began her UK exhibition career at this gallery back in the 1990’s. She will be exhibiting with us from 11th December to 8th January so please drop by and see some of her latest work.
Sunita Khedekar’s work is inspired by an overwhelming vision of divine nature, enhanced by a deep feminine sensitivity and spirituality. A joyous imagination joins forces with an innate spontaneity that energises the canvas and allows the artworks to evoke a unique sense of openness, intellectual transparency and delicacy.

Inspired by surreal tales and traditional Indian art, Sunita masterfully connects ancient glories and contemporary innovation: dreamy atmospheres and magical countrysides are shrouded in a timeless aura where exquisite portrayals of picturesque villages emphasise an accomplished synthesis of oriental traditions and European folklore. From evocative landscapes in which Heaven and Earth merge into paradisiacal narratives, to expressive portraits of sensual, albeit elegantly mysterious women, Sunita distinctly seeks a stronger bond with the world she witnesses.
She is a painter of great talent who has a unique artistic ability to capture genuine spirituality in her artworks, through which she takes the viewer closer to the fundamental forces of the universe on a journey of joy, riddled with wonderful mystical interpretations and fabulous poetic suggestion.
My favourite medium is acrylic on canvas. My paintings feature cheerful colours and unique texture quality. I love to paint, and am inspired by the whole concept of creativity; the idea that a blank canvas can be turned into something that someone will cherish is very exciting to me. I also enjoy the fact that a painting can mean different things to different people.
I have been very happy painting with acrylics for most of my life. Although beautiful English countryside landscapes, hills, small villages fascinates me, I would say nature had influenced my style. I think that subconsciously whatever I have seen has had an effect on me, teaching me about form, colour and technique, & texture and I like to think I have absorbed these lessons into the work I do.”
